Hip Hip Hooray! Hip hip Hooray! Humphrey has moved to his new home and we couldn’t be happier for the little guy. He beat the odds and survived being dumped outside. Then he survived the worst case of ears mites we had ever seen. Humphrey was a strong bunny who never gave up hope for a better life. Now all of his hard work has paid off! Here’s to Humphrey living a safe and comfortable life for many years to come! Original Post: Sweet little Humphrey…we here at the center adore this bun! He was found running around lost and frightened, clearly someone’s abandoned pet as he was wearing a collar and a bell. Thankfully, he was found by a caring person before his bell attracted a hungry fox! When he arrived, he had a TERRIBLE case of ear mites. The worst we had ever seen. It took lots of care, trips to the vets and medicine to get him well but little Humphrey pulled through! He now has 2 clean and pink looking ears, though one is a little ragged on the sides from scarring he endured.
Humphrey is a little Dutch rabbit that we believe to be about 6 months old. He is a little over 3 and a half pounds and is cute as a button! Despite all he has been through, Humphrey is still a loving bun and is here waiting for Mr or Mrs Right to take him home!
Below is a picture we took of Humphrey’s ear when he 1st got to our shelter. Though you can tell it was dirty and scabbed the photo doesn’t convey the extent of the injuries poor Humphrey was suffering. His poor ear was literally caked with scabs, dead skin and mites and was terribly painful for him! Thanks to the caring and knowledgable volunteers at the Center, Humphrey now has a clean bill of health and 2 beautiful ears!!
