We thought stretch was handsome and apparently, we weren’t the only ones! Not long after getting to our shelter, after having been in foster care with his litter mates, Stretch was officially adopted! He is a sweet, strikingly handsome bun, who had the silly habit of standing in his water bowl. We know that he will be a pleasure for his new caretaker! We miss you already Stretch and wish you a long and happy life in your forever home!
Original Post: Meet Stretch, a handsome mama’s boy from our litter of Indiana buns. Stretch came to us after a breeder of Rex rabbits was arrested and his “inventory” of nearly 400 rabbits were confiscated by Indiana authorities. Overrun with bunnies, the Indiana chapter of the HRS reached out for assistance. Wanting to help our fellow rabbit rescue, our shelter took in 7 of the Indiana buns, including a mama Lelo and her litter of 4 babies. After a long road trip, Stretch and his siblings arrived in Georgia!
Though Stretch was a carbon copy of his mom and 2 other siblings, making it hard to tell them all apart at 1st, his unique personality made him stand out in the group. Amongst the pack of tiny black buns, one was always flopped out on his tummy, relaxing and taking the day slow. Most often he’d be found stretched out right along side mama bun. He earned the nickname Stretch, and appropriate as it was, the name eventually became official.
Stretch is a gorgeous Mini Rex, with a thick and heavenly soft coat. His coloring is quite special and makes him what we call an Otter Rex. He is still quite young, just about at the 4 month mark, so he has some more growing to do. He was the closest of the baby buns to his mother and enjoyed the snuggling and the extra company. Because of this, I suspect that Stretch will be a good candidate for a bonding. Stretch is at the Rabbit Center and waiting to meet his new best friend!
